For the Crust
  • 1 cup Flour can substitute with whole wheat or gluten-free flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt adjust to your taste
  • 3 tablespoons Oil (Vegetable or Olive) a flavored oil can elevate taste
  • 3 tablespoons Water use cold for a flaky texture
For the Filling
  • 1 cup Baby Bella or Cremini Mushrooms substitute with white button mushrooms if needed
  • 2 cloves Garlic minced finely
  • 1/2 medium Onion yellow or white works well
  • 4 large Eggs use large eggs for best results
  • 1/2 cup Cream (or Milk) half-and-half or non-dairy alternative can be used
  • 1/2 cup Swiss Cheese cheddar or mozzarella works as a substitute
  • to taste Black Pepper adjust to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon Garlic Powder optional but recommended

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Gather your ingredients and equipment.
  2. Slice the mushrooms, mince the garlic, and dice the onion. Sauté them together until fragrant.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine flour and salt, then mix in oil and cold water until it forms a dough.
  4. Divide the dough into four parts and press each into mini tart pans.
  5. Sauté the filling ingredients in a skillet over medium heat until golden and fragrant, about 5-7 minutes.
  6. Beat the eggs with cream in a bowl until frothy and smooth.
  7. Distribute the vegetable mixture across the crusts, sprinkle cheese, and then add the egg mixture.
  8. Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown and set. A toothpick inserted should come out clean.
  9. Let cool for 5-10 minutes before serving. Enjoy warm or at room temperature.
