Step‑by‑Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and prepare a 12-cup muffin tin by greasing or lining it.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until combined.
  3. In a separate medium bowl, combine the buttermilk, egg, and melted butter, whisking until smooth.
  4. Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and stir gently until just combined, avoiding overmixing.
  5. Fold in the crumbled bacon and half of the maple syrup into the batter carefully.
  6. Spoon the batter into the muffin tin, filling each cup about two-thirds full. Optionally drizzle more maple syrup on top before baking.
  7. Bake for 18–20 minutes, or until tops are golden and a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. Cool in the tin for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack. Serve warm with extra maple syrup.
