  1. Begin by patting the cod fillets dry with paper towels, then season both sides with salt and pepper.
  2. Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add cod fillets and cook for 2–3 minutes on each side until golden-brown.
  3. Lower heat and add 3 tablespoons of butter to the skillet, allowing it to melt and swirl around.
  4. Add minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds or until fragrant.
  5. Incorporate fresh lemon juice and lemon zest, letting the sauce bubble gently for about 1 minute.
  6. Return the cod fillets to the skillet, spooning the sauce over them, and simmer for an additional 2–3 minutes.
  7. Garnish with freshly chopped parsley and serve immediately.
