Preparation

  3. Add large eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with whole milk.
  5. Peel and slice large apples, then fold them into the batter.
  6. Mix granulated sugar and ground cinnamon for the topping, then sprinkle over the cake batter.
  7. Bake for 50-60 minutes, checking for doneness with a toothpick.
  8. Cool the cake for 10 minutes in the pan, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
