Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a 9-inch springform pan by greasing it with butter and dusting it with flour.
- In a mixing bowl, cream together unsalted butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add large eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with whole milk.
- Peel and slice large apples, then fold them into the batter.
- Mix granulated sugar and ground cinnamon for the topping, then sprinkle over the cake batter.
- Bake for 50-60 minutes, checking for doneness with a toothpick.
- Cool the cake for 10 minutes in the pan, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
