Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.

  3. In a large mixing bowl, cream together softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Pour in vanilla extract and blend until creamy.
  5. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing on low speed until just combined.
  6. Gently fold in caramel chips and optional chocolate chips using a spatula.
  7. Drop dough onto prepared baking sheets, spacing them 2 inches apart.
  8. Sprinkle a pinch of flaky sea salt over each mound of cookie dough.
  9. Bake for 10-12 minutes, until edges are golden and centers remain soft.
