  • 0.25 tsp Garlic Powder Use fresh if available.
For the Finish
  • to taste Flaky Salt Kosher salt is a good alternative.

Method
 

Step‑by‑Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Roll out two sheets of puff pastry into 10 x 10 inch squares and cut into eight equal squares.
  3. Place one slice of ham in the center of each pastry square, topped with grated Gruyere cheese.
  4. Mix your spices and sprinkle over the cheese on each square.
  5. Whisk together one egg and a tablespoon of water for an egg wash, apply to the edges of each pastry.
  6. Fold each pastry square over the filling and seal edges tightly.
  7. Brush the exterior of each pastry with the remaining egg wash and sprinkle with flaky salt.
  8. Bake in the oven for 12-15 minutes until golden brown and puffed.
  9. Let pastries cool on a wire rack for a few minutes before serving.
