For the Whipped Cream
  • 1 cup Heavy Cream Make sure it’s chilled.
  • 2 tablespoons Powdered Sugar Can swap for coconut sugar.
For the Filling
  • 1 cup Cherries Fresh cherries are ideal.
  • 1-2 tablespoons Kirsch (Cherry Brandy) Optional; replace with cherry juice if desired.
For Garnishing
  • 1 cup Chocolate Shavings For decorative touch.
  • 4 pieces Additional Cherries For top decoration.

Method
 

Preparation Steps
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake a moist chocolate cake or use a pre-made one. Allow it to cool completely.
  2. In a chilled mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of heavy cream and 2 tablespoons of powdered sugar. Whip on medium speed until soft peaks form.
  3. Wash and pit 1 cup of fresh cherries, then slice in half. If using canned cherries, drain well. Optionally soak in 1-2 tablespoons of Kirsch for 10-15 minutes.
  4. Layer in a trifle dish: start with chocolate cake cubes, then layer whipped cream, followed by cherries, continuing until all ingredients are used.
  5. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight.
  6. When ready to serve, garnish with chocolate shavings and whole cherries. Serve chilled.
