- In a small saucepan, gather all the ingredients for your Chinese BBQ Sauce: brown sugar, hoisin sauce, oyster sauce, molasses, soy sauce, Shaoxing wine, garlic, ginger, five spice powder, and salt. Stir everything together thoroughly.
- Place the saucepan on the stove and heat the mixture over medium heat, stirring constantly. The sugar should completely dissolve within about 3–5 minutes.
- Bring the sauce to a gentle simmer, allowing it to cook for an additional 8-10 minutes until it thickens.
- Once thickened, remove the saucepan from heat and let the sauce cool for about 10 minutes.
