- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Bake the thawed puff pastry for 12-15 minutes until golden brown and crisp, then let it cool completely.
- Combine sugar, cornstarch, and salt in a saucepan. Whisk in egg yolks, then add heavy cream and whole milk.
- Cook the custard mixture over medium heat, stirring constantly until thickened (5-7 minutes). Stir in butter and vanilla, then let cool.
- Assemble by placing one sheet of cooled puff pastry in an 8x8-inch dish, pouring the custard over it, and topping with the second sheet.
