Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Press the extra-firm tofu for 15 minutes to eliminate excess moisture.
  2. Set up your breading station: one bowl with flour, one with soy sauce, and one with panko breadcrumbs.
  3. Coat tofu by dredging in flour, dipping in soy sauce, then pressing into panko breadcrumbs.
  4. Heat about 1/4 inch of oil in a skillet over medium heat until shimmering.
  5. Fry breaded tofu pieces in a single layer for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  6. Drain excess oil on paper towels after frying.
  7. Serve hot, drizzled with tonkatsu sauce or on the side for dipping.
